About AICAP

Uncontrolled AI in the U.S. could paralyze the industry and compromise our position as the leading exporter of poultry in the world. Fully aware of the devastating consequences that such situation could bring, the USDA sought to develop and maintain an active network that effectively monitors influenza activity in poultry across the country.

This cooperative effort is the direct result of the recognition of the importance of coordinated effort. Funded by the USDA's Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service, this multi-institutional project proposes to develop reagents, technologies, and human resources aimed at the detection and eradication of influenza from economically important poultry species in the U.S.

This website will serve as one of the core outreach components of this CSREES project. Visitors to the site will be provided with background information about AI, learn about progress and current research, funding opportunities, and identify potential research collaborations.

Portions of the website are reserved, via a secure login, for researchers working within the AICAP structure. The secure area provides a mechanism for researchers to share preliminary data, post comments to a message board, and hosts a repository of documents necessary to administer the project.
